A Few Delhi Links

Indra Mani's photographs of Palika Bazaar. Quite a few photographs. Good resolution. Great eye. This page is a gem.

www.fondsbkvb.nl. A dutch site made by some architects, some great photographs of various interesting buildings from Delhi and some other Indian cities.

R. Agrawal's Delhi Page: If any site can be considered to be definitive it is this one. Rakesh Agrawal's Delhi page is the one which is referred to most often. (Note: Of late this page seems to have gone offline, I hope not permanently. If anyone finds it relocated or whatever please let me know. Rakesh's page was the only thing to turn to at a time before the jazzy info-sites started to jump in, it would be a real loss if it disappeared.)

Asim's Delhi Page: A delightful, if brief, site which goes over the basics and also tries to focus on the contemporary in a way few other sites do.

ILoveIndia.com's Delhi page: One of the more visually pleasing sites on Delhi it contains a number of photographs as well. They used to be Delhi INFOnet. I don't know why they switched to this new, somewhat cheesy, name.

The National Rail Museum in Chankayapuri has its own website.

Tihar Jail is on the internet as well. Exclamation point.

ArtIndia.net has a lot of information about artists living in and around Delhi with informative writeups about the arts as well.

The Delhi City Guide maintained on the India on Internet (sic) site. Another tourist oriented site but with decent writeups about the various "attractions" of Delhi.

Images Northern India: This page contains a number of photographs of North Indian monuments with a 4 or 5 Delhi monuments as well. Unfortunately the phots are all black and white and in dissatisfyingly small sizes.

World's Transportation Commission Photograph Collection: There are a few good photos in this collection. You will have to run a search on their database to get them.

Harappa: An excellent site, though not Delhi specific it has a number of visual treats out of the Indian subcontinent.

Lonely Planet -- Destination: Delhi: This is a good site for the potential tourist. A good slide show.

City.Net India, Delhi and New Delhi: Another good site for tourist info.

http://www.redifindia.com/travel/travhom1.htm: Rediff on the Net's travel page which has a Delhi listing. The best thing about this site is the short essay by Khushwant Singh which I have shamelessly downloaded and reproduced here.

The Indian Parliament: Somewhere on this page are two links, one to the inscriptions in Parliament House and the other to mural paintings in Parliament House.

Delhigate.com: "Delhi's first online advisory service," the blurb says. This site is in a formative stage and provides a lot of useful info for the potential tourist. Special attraction: "zoomable" map (I think they mean clickable.)

The Delhi Zone: Another site which provides a lot of information about Delhi it has a "Virtual tour" of some of the sights (including a photo of the Rail Museum.) The other feature worthy of note is the email directory of Delhiites which is not very extensive as of now.

If these aren't enough for you try using Webcrawler to search for all documents containg the string "Delhi" in them by clicking on this gross looking icon.
