I am a research scientist at the Human Language Technology Center of Excellence and in the Department of Computer Science at Johns Hopkins University. My main research interest is machine translation, but I also like grammar correction, parsing, and other things that involve syntax.
From August 2017 through August 2018 I am on leave from JHU, working with Amazon Research in Berlin.
My professional activities including co-advising (with Ben Van Durme) Keisuke Sakaguchi and co-organizing the annual Conference on Machine Translation. I was a member of the NAACL executive board for the 2015-–2016 term, and am one of the ACL 2018 area chairs for machine translation. I also used to maintain the Joshua decoder
