Nine PhD students from the Department of Computer Science traveled west to attend the annual Grad Cohort Workshop for Women. The workshop, sponsored by the Computing Research Association, aims to increase the ranks of senior women in computing-related studies and research by building and mentoring nationwide communities of women through their graduate studies. The workshop hosts women graduate students in their first three years of graduate school and welcomes them into the community of computing researchers and professionals.

The two-day program was held from April 13–14 in San Francisco and included a mix of formal presentations, informal discussions, and social events, along with an awards celebration.
