Susan Hohenberger-Waters is a research professor in the Department of Computer Science and a member of the Johns Hopkins University Information Security Institute. Her research focuses on cryptography and computer security. She is the recipient of an NSF CAREER Award, a Google Faculty Research Award, and a Microsoft Research Faculty Fellowship.

Hohenberger-Waters received a BS from Ohio State University and a PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, both in computer science. Prior to joining Hopkins, she was a postdoctoral researcher at IBM Research in Zurich, Switzerland.
