Yinzhi Cao is an associate professor of computer science whose research focuses on the security and privacy of our web, network, and mobile systems. He is the technical director of the Johns Hopkins University Information Security Institute and is additionally affiliated with the Johns Hopkins Institute for Assured Autonomy.
His current research projects are “Vulnerability Analysis of Web Applications” and “Security, Privacy, and Fairness Analysis of Machine Learning Systems.” Cao was awarded an NSF CAREER Award in 2021, the DARPA Young Faculty Award in 2022, and Amazon Research Awards in 2022 and 2017.
He joined Johns Hopkins in 2018 from Lehigh University, where he was an assistant professor. Cao received his BE in electronic engineering at Tsinghua University, China, in 2008 and his PhD in computer science at Northwestern University in 2014.
