Yinzhi Cao, assistant professor of computer science, has been recognized with a Defense Advanced Research Project Agency (DARPA) Young Faculty Award. Cao is affiliated with both the Johns Hopkins University Information Security Institute and the Institute for Assured Autonomy. His research focuses on the security and privacy of our web, network, and mobile systems.

His proposal for the award was “Abstract Modeling of Control- and Data-flow Guards of Inactive Vulnerabilities via Symbolic Object Graph.”

In addition to funding, the DARPA Young Faculty Award provides mentoring and networking, helping connect recipients to industry and Department of Defense contacts. Its goal is to develop the next generation of engineers, mathematicians, and academic scientists who will focus a significant portion of their careers on national security issues.
